You Better Plan On It Podcast!
Listen carefully! There has never been a moment in time in which anyone can successfully say that they have lived life without having an effective daily plan. I mean, just think about it: We generally start and end our days with a standard routine that changes from time to time but mostly a minor scale, or it changes when an unexpected situation is forced upon us. So, if you do not know what life would be like without ever having an effective daily plan, then you should know that life without one equals chaos, anger, disappointment and ultimately failure.
So, to give you insight as to life as it relates to an effective daily plan, here is an important formula for you to remember:
Quality of Life = Questions Asked which = Questions Answered which = Primary + Alternate Decisions Made which ultimately = Effective Daily Planning & Living
So, whether we prepare to start our day or end our day, it is vital that having an effective daily plan can ultimately determine our positive outcomes outweighing our negative ones, versus the other way around. I mean, let's face it, over the years we have become a much more reactive society vice a proactive one which has led so many negative, life-altering outcomes within our homes, our communities, our schools and our workplaces.

It is said that an estimated 800,000 to 1 million residential burglaries occur in the United States each year; an average of roughly one break-in every 26 to 30 seconds, as reported by "The Zebra," the nation's leading independent insurance comparison site. Additionally, household members have faced violent victimization in an estimated 266,560 burglaries each year.
So, with such as the case, it is critically important that every Head of Household or another member of authority within the home should conduct daily home wellness checks in support of the health, welfare and safety of his/her family. To be clear, this is not a home wellness check done by police, social services or other similar agencies, but it is rather done within the family by implementing a daily routine specifically designed to mitigate the possibility of theft, serious injury and even death in rare cases to the greatest extent possible. Simply put, you should enlist this as a must be done home requirement based on the aforementioned extreme number of break-ins incurred in this country as well as the violent victimization crimes that occur each year.
Now, go ahead and hit that play button and find out about the 3 key steps to protecting your families from break-ins.

Hey, hey, what's up out there again, everybody? I'm your host, Greg Mackie. You better plan on a podcast. Catch me every Tuesday at 12 p.m. Pacific Standard Time or catch me live on YouTube at that same time. Or go to www.youbetterplan on a podcast.budsprout.com and catch me on one of your favorite sites. Now, let's go ahead and talk about planning. Which is what my podcast is all about. It's all about planning. Now, in this case, I want to talk about a home wellness check. I'm not talking about calling the police or calling someone up and having them do a wellness check. I'm talking about you doing your own personal family wellness check for your home. The reason why I want to give you some advice on doing this is because we have to get more proficient and be more vigilant at keeping burglars and intruders out of our homes. People are getting killed or beaten badly or beaten to death or kidnapped and taken from their homes because we get careless. We get comfortable and complacent, and we don't do what's necessary to ensure our home is protected in the way it should be. So this is your home wellness check on a personal level. And there's three things that I want you to do. The first thing I want you to do is once you have shut it down for the evening and before it gets too late, I want you as the head of household to go outside your home and do a thorough investigation of your property. All the way around to the 360. Include your vehicles, if you have them, outside, and check out everything to make sure it's secure and that you didn't leave anything available to an intruder or criminal to break into your home and cause harm to you or your family. I mean, really, when you do this, it's not something you do in two minutes and then all say, Oh, well, I'm done, I'm good. And go back in. Yeah, I know we've taken a shower, we've eaten, whatever, the case, and we're lazy, don't want to do it. You need to do this. Especially if you don't live in private communities that have 24 hours security. And really, I really don't care if you even have that. You should be doing this anyway, because I live in a private community that has security, and I still get outside and check my property daily. And all it is is take a thorough inventory and investment around your property, looking for any and everything. It doesn't take long for you to do, just do it with some precision and effectiveness, and that will make sure that an intruder doesn't have something left out there that can help that intruder break into your home and cause your family harm. That's the first thing you do. Second thing you're gonna do is you're gonna go inside your home. And you're going to do the same exact thing every single room, every crack and crevice. Just check it out thoroughly to make sure windows are secure, doors are locked, curtains are closed, because peep and times can look in there and see that your children are in there, or you are in your room, or your wife somewhere else, or something, and all of a sudden they break in, and now you have a very chaotic situation that could turn into death or kidnappings or someone being badly hurt. So take a look carefully, you know, every single room. And even before you go to bed, make sure that stove or that oven is off, refrigerator's secure. Go out in that garage and look around. Make sure everything's secure, make sure the garage is secure. You know, do these things in detail. Don't take it for granted and just go in there willy-nilly. Ah, well, it looks good. I'm cool. Light on, 13 seconds light off, kind of thing. I'm telling you, when you get complacent, you get careless, people get killed or people get hurt. So that was the second thing. And then the third thing is make this a family event. Period. There's no reason that a child of age cannot check things out and make sure secure. If you have situations where you need something to get repaired because there's a window latch broken, that's a danger. You cannot wait around and say, well, I've got to wait until I get paid. Certain things just have to happen. Jot it down to say this has to be fixed, ASAP, and get it done. You know, because you want to be as safe and secure as possible. But I know we get excited about life and doing things a certain way, and we have our routine. But I need you, people, everybody, make this a daily habit. Okay, yeah, you're gonna tell me that you do that pretty much daily, but you know what? You do it lightly. I guarantee you that there's a high percentage of you that you might go outside at night, but you're not necessarily checking to make sure your house is secure. You might be checking to make sure your pool lights are off or you know the garage door. Oh, well, it's closed, yeah. Something like that. If you walk outside, you might make sure your lights are working, but you're not actually doing a full 360 around your house to see if you left a hammer out there or a rake or something in which a window can be knocked out in your basement or wherever, and then an intruder gets in. You're not doing that in that much detail. I can tell you right now, I check my house out every single night before I shut it down. Period. I'm just used to it. And I come back on the inside and I check things. And my wife tells me I'm anal, and that's because I am. Because I keep hearing about people getting killed or getting beaten or getting robbed. And I'm trying to avoid that. And even and the worst thing is when you have weapons in your home designed to protect you from that, oftentimes because we're complacent and get comfortable, we never even get a chance to use our weapons. So when something does go wrong or somebody's killed, and the police come in, they find out wow, the individual, the family had weapons and were unable to use them because we got careless, we got laxadaisical, and bam, it happened. I don't want that and wish that on anyone. So, in closing, first thing I want you to do, do that in external investigation of your property in detail. Step two, come back in, do the inside in detail in the same manner. Step three, involve the family, whether they want to be or not. Your kid is not going to tell you that, hey, I'm dad, you got it, a mom, you got it. That's that's for you. You're the parent. Oh, that's not happening, not here in my home. Now my kids are grown and gone, but when they're here, I don't I actually, because I do it myself, because it's just me and I'm used to it, I just take it upon myself. But I will say to them, hey, can you make sure your window is secure in your room? I know we get comfortable, but on the first floor, that could be a danger. So, you know, and lastly, I would just say, make sure anything that you need to get repaired that's a danger to your home, get it repaired. Don't procrastinate because I do not want to hear on the news or see on television or whatever that this could all been avoided if he or she had taken care of this and it happens far too often. So again, do that own your own home wellness check for your property and support, love, and care of your family, friends, and loved ones. And I guarantee you, if we all do this, because I do it, I want you to do it as well. Don't risk it. It'll make the world a better place. So, in closing, I want to say thank you for your time.
